40,000 Layoffs at the POST OFFICE!!!

That's a good chunk of the few high paying jobs left in the U.S. It will have an impact. Attrition won't take care of it, they are planning to do away with day shift in order to force the early retirements. People with the most seniority work the better hours, days. If enough of them refuse to work evenings or nights then maybe they will retire or so the plan goes. Also there is a plan to eliminate Saturday delivery. They have wanted to do away with carriers all together and hire outside contractors to do it ala Manpower and other temp services. Imagine the kind of service you will get from someone making close to minimum wage.
